The bottle marked Sawyer's Fluid Extract Of Bark. was made by Dr Sidney Sawyer in Chicago.

.. Sidney Sawyer moved to Chicago in 1839 from Albany NY. He open a drugstore on Dearborn street being supplied by a large chemist in NYC. The store was called the NEW YORK CHEAP CASH DRUG & MEDICINE STORE. The store later was moved to 124 Lake st. In 1855 the store changed its name to Sawyer Paige & Company. They moved to 70 Lake St in 1856 and in 1861 the stores contents were sold at public auction.
Sawyer's Extaract of Bark was first advertised in 1839 as a remedy for fever and ague and was still being marketed in 1903.
In 1842 he bacame an agent for Hewes' Nerve and Bone Liniment.
The drugstore in the 1850s became a wholesale and retail store. The firm was run by Nathanial Sawyer, Nathanial Paige and Dr Sidney Sawyer. N. Sawyer handled the retail business and N. Paige handled the wholesale part.
Dr S Sawyer died in Chicago in 1894.
