ELECTRIC MEDICINES

In the 19th century electricity was a new and wondrous thing. By that time scientists understood it fairly well but the common man on the street could only imagine at its mysterious powers. Many of the patent medicine purveyors took advantage of the public's interest and ignorance of electricity to market remedies with wild claims. It wasn't until electricity started to be used in homes as a common place utility that the electric medicines died out.
